I believe everyone has their own unique experience in therapy, and that one approach or theory does not fit all. Having said that, I believe the therapeutic relationship is central. We are hurt in relationships, and we are healed in relationships. A therapist’s job is to provide an open space so that the client can express thoughts and feelings, and have the experience of being listened to without judgment. For children, it is to play freely in a safe space and be able to express without interruption or interpretation, and for the therapist to accompany them with genuine interest.
Generally, I think this process is more about finding a strength than about fixing a problem. The world is full of messages selling us the idea that there is something wrong with us. The therapeutic space is rare environment where our innate sense of learning and our ability to grow can be encouraged and change can happen. It can be a place to sort, heal, and make new choices.

I received my bachelor's degree from The Sarah Lawrence College with a concentration in literature, theatre and social science. I went on to earn a Master of Social Work degree from The Silberman School of Social Work at Hunter College where I focused much of my writing and studies on teens recovering from trauma. I later attended The Trauma Training Program at The Institute of Contemporary Psychotherapy. While in the trauma program, I also obtained a Level II training in EMDR ( Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing) which is a psychotherapy treatment that was originally designed to alleviate the distress associated with traumatic memories. I am a graduate of the Eastern Group Psychotherapy Society.
I am a New York State Licensed Clinical Social Worker. I do not take insurance.
My fee is $250 for a 50 minute session. I do provide a sliding scale, based on financial need. Monthly invoices will be provided for your records and billing needs.
